The birth of the Carse of Gowrie District Tartan

This brand new Tartan, Carse of Gowrie District Tartan, was designed locally in Kingoodie / Invergowrie by Margaret Adam. Carse in old Scots means fertile land running alongside a river and inver means mouth of a river. This whole area in ancient time was known as Gowrie.

The fabric itself is woven in the UK using Merino wool yarn – it is known as the finest wool and we have used it for this beautiful new tartan.

The tartan will only be available to purchase via Margaret Adam, M-Adam Designs or under licence from Marton Mills. I will sell occasionally on Create and Craft in 0.5metre units and in bag making kits. The tartan is 13.5 ounce tartan and is suitable for bag making, kilts, clothing and upholstery.
